Sustainability - Origin Mattress

At Origin, we strongly believe in doing our part to minimize the negative impacts on our environment. We are committed to leveraging on new technology and our expertise to construct our mattresses using sustainable materials where possible, and building durable mattresses with a longer lifespan, so fewer of them end up in landfills.

This journey isn’t easy; but we’ve partnered with some amazing organizations below to help us along the way.

Our mission is to fight climate change in America (& beyond). Read on to learn about how we minimize our waste, and incorporate sustainable materials in our products.

Thanks to our non-profit partner(s), we are putting processes in place to plant one tree for every mattress sold on our website. Every effort counts in the fight against climate change, and so we decided to go green by planting trees – one of the most effective ways of keeping our planet healthy.

Our Donation Partner

While we try our best to minimize inconvenience for our customers, free mattress returns aren’t the most environmentally-friendly practice. Once a mattress is returned, it can’t be sold, even if it was only lightly used. Most of the time, companies simply dump returned mattresses in landfills, because it costs lesser to do so.

However, Origin does it differently.

We’ve taken the extra step to partner with local charities to minimize wastage and landfill dumping. While we’ve built our mattresses to be suitable for most Americans, we might not meet all preferences. But, at least you can rest assured knowing that our charity partners worldwide help to deep clean the returned mattresses and donate them to those in need.

Eco-friendly Materials

As part of our green mission, our research team is constantly trying to identify more environmentally-responsible materials we can use.

All our layers (memory foam, springs and latex) are partially infused with bio-degradeable materials.

We have also been independently-tested in third party labs and been certified by CertiPUR-US®, as our products are made “without mercury, lead and heavy metals, ozone depleters, formaldehyde, VOCs, phthalates regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission” and more.

Green Manufactoring

Aside from using environmentally-friendly materials, ensuring that no products go to waste, and fighting deforestation by planting trees – we also had a look at our manufacturing.

And so we have incrementally refined our manufacturing processes to reduce the emission of C02 and other harmful substances.

Our combined efforts have been acknowledged through multiple sustainability and eco-friendly awards – but the journey has only just begun.
